Golem's Glare
Chapter 1. The star golem glowered from the shadows, its mechanical eyes glowing with a sinister light. Its silhouette loomed menacingly over the quivering child, who cowered away from its gaze. The child had only just stumbled upon the golem’s hidden chamber and now trembled in fear at the sight of this monstrosity.
The golem held out a hand, its metallic fingers curling towards the child like the talons of some mythical beast. With a creaking voice, it spoke: “What brings you here, small one?” The frightened child shook his head and stammered an explanation as to why he had strayed into this strange place.
The golem listened intently, its robotic ears twitching as if it understood every word. Finally, when the child had finished speaking, it bowed its head and sighed heavily before saying: “I was once like you; afraid of the unknown and uncertain of my future. But fear not for I am here to help guide you on your way.” The golem stepped forward, extending its arm towards the boy and beckoning him to step closer.
Hesitantly, he obeyed and placed his trembling hand into that of the metal being’s grasp. He felt a warmth emanating from within it – a warmth that soon spread throughout his body like an electric current, filling him with courage and hope.
The star golem smiled at him then – an almost human expression on its metallic face – before turning away to lead him back towards home. As they walked through the darkness together, arm-in-arm in silent companionship, the frightened child knew he had nothing to fear anymore – for he was safe in the presence of something greater than himself: a true guardian angel made of steel and stars!
