The Dentist's Job
Chapter 1. Once upon a time, there lived a young girl named Sarah. She was always curious about the world around her. One day, she asked her mother, “Mommy, what does a dentist do? ” Her mother smiled and replied, “A dentist takes care of people’s teeth.
He checks to make sure they are healthy and teaches them how to keep their teeth strong.” Sarah thought this sounded like an interesting job and she wanted to learn more. So she asked her mother if she could visit the dentist one day and see for herself what he does. Her mother happily agreed and soon Sarah was sitting in the dentist’s office.
The dentist asked Sarah all sorts of questions about her teeth and then he showed her how to brush them properly with toothpaste and a toothbrush. He also showed her how to floss between her teeth in order to keep them clean. Sarah was fascinated by all the tools that the dentist used, such as the special mirror that helped him see inside people’s mouths.
He even let her try out some of his tools for herself! At the end of the visit, the dentist gave Sarah a special sticker that read “Best Brusher” as a reward for taking such good care of her teeth while she was there. Sarah thanked him and went home feeling very proud of herself.
From that day on, Sarah made sure to brush her teeth every morning and night just like the dentist had taught her. She even shared what she had learned with all of her friends at school! And so, Sarah learned all about what dentists do—and it made going to the dentist not so scary anymore!
