Goodbye, Again.

Chapter 1. Goodbye, Again He had said goodbye so many times throughout his life that the words had become a part of him. He had lived for centuries, and in that time he had seen many people come and go, and each one he had said goodbye to. Though his heart was heavy with grief every time he parted ways with someone, he found solace in the knowledge that he was cursed with immortality; he could never die. Though this meant he would outlive those who left him.

The man wandered through the bustling city streets for hours, his mind lost in thought. He passed by strangers who looked at him curiously, as if sensing something different about him, but none of them could ever understand his plight. As night began to fall, the man stumbled across a small park tucked away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. The man sat on a bench beneath an old tree and let out a deep sigh as tears streamed down his cheeks.

He silently cursed his immortal existence; it felt like a curse despite its gift of eternal life. How could something be both so wonderful yet so terrible? As if answering his question, a soft voice spoke behind him: "Goodbye again." The man turned to see an elderly woman standing behind him, her eyes twinkling with wisdom and compassion as she looked at him kindly.

She smiled sadly before continuing: "I can feel your pain; I know what it's like to live forever and have to say goodbye so many times." The man was startled by her words but allowed her to sit beside him on the bench before she continued: "You will find comfort in knowing that you are not alone." The woman took the man's hands in her own warm ones and gave them a gentle squeeze before adding softly: "This is not goodbye forever; this is just another goodbye until next time.

" She stood up then and walked away without another word, leaving the man speechless but filled with hope for what lay ahead. The man stayed in the park until morning came before finally getting up from the bench where he'd been sitting all night long. He wiped away his tears and smiled sadly as he whispered quietly: "Goodbye again.
