Chapter 1. It was the night of the Big Monster Bash and all of Cloverfield was abuzz with excitement. Even the creatures that lurked in the shadows were drawn to the festivities, entranced by the promise of revelry and merriment. The star of the show, however, was a creature so large and mysterious that none had ever seen its likes.
Its approach was heralded by an unearthly low rumble and a tremendous thud that shook the ground as it lumbered into town. The monster made its way to the party where it was met with a mixture of awe and apprehension. The revellers were unsure what to make of this strange being that had appeared so suddenly in their midst.
But as they watched, they realized there was something strangely familiar about it – a sense of warmth, like an old friend come home again.
