The Web of Fate Unwound

Sonnet
Ah, what a fate the web of time hath wound
Around the Internet, so wondrously made,
The story of its birth we shall expound
And how it changed our lives and how it stayed.
Though some may think it sprung up overnight
From out of nothing, in a flash of light,

The truth is more profound, and far more bright:
It was three men who made us see the right.
The first saw that computers could be linked
To share information and ideas free;
The second added to his insight's brink

And gave us all access to this new sea.
The third put forth his own clever thought
And brought to life a web that couldn't be caught.
So from their genius our world was wrought
A web of fate unwound for you and me.
