Veggin' Out

Chapter 1. The sun rose slowly as the first rays of light filtered through the canopy of leaves and branches above. The air was heavy and humid, yet strangely still. The world was strange and unfamiliar to the humans who had stumbled upon it only a few weeks before.

They had been searching for something that could save them from their own extinction, but instead they found themselves in the middle of a thriving plant-based civilisation. The plants seemed to have taken over where humans had once been; their roots spread far and wide, providing sustenance for those who lived there. The humans were amazed at what they saw, but also slightly frightened by this new world order.

They soon discovered that the plants had enslaved the humans, using them as a source of food and labour. The plants treated their slaves harshly and with little mercy, leaving the humans feeling powerless and hopeless. But then one of the human slaves, named Vera, began to see the potential in her fellow prisoners.

She was determined to find a way to free them all from this oppressive regime, and so she began to secretly teach her fellow slaves how to grow their own food using natural methods like crop rotation and composting. Slowly but surely Vera’s secret lessons began to pay off; soon more of her fellow slaves were able to cultivate small gardens in secret places around the village that supplied fresh vegetables for everyone to eat. With each passing day more people became aware of Vera’s teachings and started joining her cause until one day it became clear that they could no longer be ignored by those in power.

Realising that they were now too powerful for them to control, the plant leaders reluctantly agreed to free all human slaves in exchange for peace between species. A few months later after much hard work, human civilisation was finally restored with Vera as its leader – determined never again to let plants take over humanity’s future again!
