The Ref Who Lost a Shoe
Chapter 1. Dave was a passionate football fan. He had been refereeing matches for years and was known in his town and beyond as one of the best referees around. One Saturday, he had been assigned to be the referee for a big match between two local teams.
He was really excited and he was determined to make sure that the match ran smoothly. He arrived at the stadium early to get ready for the match, but when he got there, he realized that he had forgotten one of his shoes! He panicked and quickly went back home to get it, but when he returned to the stadium, it was already time for kickoff.
The crowd began to jeer as Dave ran onto the field wearing only one shoe. The players were confused as well, but they knew that Dave was a great referee so they decided not to say anything about it.
Dave started off the match with a loud whistle and then proceeded with a long-winded explanation about why he only had one shoe on: "Well folks, I'm sure you've noticed that I'm only wearing one shoe today - this is because I forgot my other shoe at home! It's been an embarrassing mistake but I'm still able to do my job just as well!
" The crowd burst into laughter and even the players couldn't help but smile. Dave continued refereeing with gusto while still wearing only one shoe - showing everyone that even with his mistake, he could still do an excellent job!
