Chapter 1. The Ancient One's Big Box Adventure Cthulhu awoke with a start, his tentacles twitching in agitation. He had been pondering for days the dire situation he found himself in; money was running dangerously low and the future seemed bleak indeed. With a sigh, he resigned himself to the obvious conclusion: he needed to find work. Cthulhu's options were limited; it wasn't as though one could list "ancient interdimensional deity" as an occupation on a job application without raising some eyebrows.
However, his tentacles picked up on a faint glimmer of hope from the depths of his mind - Walmart! Surely no one would bat an eye at him working at the local big box chain? He arrived early on his first day, determined to make the best impression possible. As Cthulhu glanced around him, he couldn't help but feel out of place; this was not an environment in which he was accustomed to dwell.
Nonetheless, he kept his head held high and went about his duties with enthusiasm and efficiency. Before long, Cthulhu found himself growing fond of the store and its customers; they were friendly and seemed genuinely pleased to see him every day. His fellow coworkers were also quite welcoming; they admired his dedication and effortless ability to get things done quickly. A few even declared that they wished they could work as hard as Cthulhu!
One afternoon, while stocking shelves in the toy section, Cthulhu noticed something peculiar - a peculiarly-shaped box tucked away in a corner. Upon further inspection, it appeared to be an ancient puzzle box with strange symbols inscribed onto its surface. Intrigued by this discovery, Cthulhu opened it up with great trepidation only to find something truly remarkable inside - piles upon piles of gold coins!
It was then that Cthulhu realized that fate had handed him a blessing after all; what had once been a last-ditch effort had turned into an opportunity for untold wealth! Cthulhu thanked whatever cosmic forces that had seen fit to reward him so generously before pocketing his newfound fortune and leaving Walmart with a newfound sense of purpose and hope for the future ahead.
