A Slice of Unfairness
Chapter 1. The sun was setting on a quiet street in the small town of Willow Creek, and a delivery boy was making his rounds. He had already delivered to all the houses nearby, but he still had one place left. It was an old, run-down apartment complex, and he wasn't looking forward to going there. He knocked on the door of the apartment, but there was no answer. He tried again, louder this time, but still nothing. With a sigh, he decided to head back to the pizza shop empty-handed.
But as he turned around, he heard a voice from behind him: "Hey! Delivery boy!" He spun around to see a middle-aged man standing in the doorway. The man had his arms crossed and an angry expression on his face. "You were supposed to deliver my pizza an hour ago," he said gruffly. "Where is it?
" The delivery boy stammered out an apology and explained that he had been held up by traffic earlier that day. The man didn't look convinced and demanded that he get his pizza now. The delivery boy apologized again and offered to give him a discount for the inconvenience, but this only seemed to make the man angrier. "No discount!" he yelled as he grabbed the delivery boy by the arm and dragged him inside the apartment complex. He locked the door behind them and told the delivery boy that if he wanted to leave alive then he better give him exactly what he wanted—a free pizza with extra cheese!
The delivery boy was terrified but determined not to give into this man's demands. He thought of all his hard work over the past few months and how much it would mean for him if he could just make it out of this situation alive with his dignity intact. So instead of caving in like before, he decided to stand up for himself this time—and so began a heated argument between them over whether or not a free pizza would be fair compensation for being held hostage in someone's home against one's will! Finally after what seemed like hours of back-and-forth arguing, both parties agreed on a compromise: Instead of giving away a free pizza with extra cheese as requested by the middle-manager, they settled on giving him two large pizzas with half price off each one—a much fairer deal than what was originally proposed! The relieved delivery boy quickly grabbed two pizzas from his car outside and handed them over with half price off each one—his first successful negotiation!
As soon as his captor received them, however, something strange happened—the middle manager suddenly started laughing hysterically! It turns out that this whole situation had been nothing more than an elaborate prank orchestrated by some of his friends from work who thought it would be funny if they played a joke on their boss' favorite employee (the delivery boy). As it turns out, they were right! After realizing what had happened everyone involved couldn't help themselves from breaking into laughter at how ridiculous yet successful their prank had been! And so ends our story about A Slice of Unfairness—a lesson in fairness that shows us how even those who don't have power can use their wits and creativity to come out ahead in sticky situations such as these!
